My name is Nadira, currently I'm a 4th year medical student on Gadjah Mada University, Indonesia. On 1-12th September 2014 I had an internship experience in the obstetrics and gynecology departement, Osaka City University. That was an amazing experience that gave me many chances to learn about woman reproductive and pathology.

On the first week, I'm went to the obstetric departement. I had a clinical skills training about how to manage vaginal delivery and vacuum delivery, beside that, I had a chance to assisst some caesarian section surgery, saw normal delivery, and also organ prolaps surgery. There was also ectopic pregnancy surgery, wich is one of the emergency surgery in obstetric. We closed the week in obstetric departement with the lecture by Professor Masayasu Koyama about urinary incompetence in woman.

The second week was on the gynecologic departement. On this departement, I saw many surgeries like ovariectomy, ovarian cystectomy, sister marry joseph tumor, and total hysterectomy. The best one was, I tried laparoscopy simulation here, and also learnt about pelvic examination and skin suturing. Once we had a conference about medical research on obsgyn cases, and it opened my mind, that medical field here keep moving forward to the better understanding and treatment to reach patient welfare. We also closed the week with the lecture about hysterectomy procedure by Professor Sumi.

Overall, I had an amazing experienced here. It's broaden my horizon about how is medical world in another country. Not only about medic, this program also made me have a better networking with international medical students here, and of course, better understanding about japanese culture. I tottaly recommending any medical student to join this program. Thank you Osaka City University
