Nuclear medicine consists of visual and quantitative diagnosis of in vivo metabolic reactions using radioactive isotopes and treatment using radioisotopes.

In the area of diagnosis, we use metabolic imaging to make clinical diagnoses such as diagnosis of cancer by FDG-PET and diagnosis of dementia by cerebral blood flow SPECT. For research purposes, we are conducting PET examinations with isotopes such as F-18 NaF, C-11 PIB and C-11 methionine.

In the area of treatment, we perform I-131 radioiodine therapy for thyroid cancer and Sr-89 therapy for alleviating pain caused by bone metastasis. Since last year, we newly began treatment of bone metastasis of prostate cancer with Ra-223.
