The Department of Clinical Oncology has been created as a result of the "Cancer Professional Training Promotion Plan", a project sponsored by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology since 2012.

Engaging in the development of novel drugs and treatments for cancer patients is one of the important roles of the Clinical Oncology Department. We actively participate in clinical trials and are engaged in clinical practice and research. Another of our aims is educational improvement, to develop the human resources to design clinical trials. We also focus on the cancer board in our chemotherapy center, where we discuss issues of treatment strategy for several cancers such as lung cancer, breast cancer, gastrointestinal cancer, primary unknown cancer, etc. As a hospital, we are making every effort to establish an oncology team comprising nurses, pharmacists and medical staff.

In addition, we are working on translational research, making full use of the facilities of the medical school. We are conducting research using molecular biological methods to elucidate the pathology and pathogenesis of lung cancer.
